If \(D\) is a square-free positive integer, let \(S_2(D)\) denote the space of cusp forms of Hilbert modular type of weight 2 with respect to \({\mathbb{Q}}(\sqrt{D})\). In an earlier paper [Sci. Pap. C, Gen. Ed. Univ. Tokyo 29, 1--28 (1979; Zbl 0415.10020)] the author used the trace formula in order to calculate the dimension of \(S_2(D)\). In the paper under review the quantities are evaluated and \(\dim S_2(D)\) is given explicitly for \(1<D<1000\).
