The authors discuss the relationship between the method of \textit{W. J. Thron} and \textit{H. Waadeland} [Lect. Notes Math. 932, 225-240 (1982; Zbl 0497.30011)] and the method of \textit{L. Jacobsen} and \textit{H. Waadeland} [Numer. Math. 53, 285-298 (1988; Zbl 0628.65003)] for accelerating the convergence of ordinary continued fractions and, also, they compare these methods.
