The problem of diffraction of an acousting wave on a hard cylinder coated with a fine shock-absorbing layer is studied. The inversion of Laplace transform for the force applied to the cylinder and the pressure on the cylinder surface is performed by a numerical method. Asymptotic representations of these variables are found for soft coatings.
