Majority functional operators in voting theory (Q1112706)

We consider functional voting operators which process collections of individual choice functions into a ``collective'' choice function. We characterize the functional operators that generate the majority and simple majority rules. We solve the problem of finding the group choice function (the median) closest to the individual choice functions. A relationship between the median and the majority functional operator is established.
