From authors introduction: ``F. Buekenhout showed that any gamma space which is locally a polar space, which has diameter 2, and which satisfies a non-degeneracy condition, is either a polar space or a near quadrangle [see \textit{F. Buekenhout}, Simon Stevin 53, 3-7 (1979; Zbl 0399.51010)]. The purpose of this paper is to classify locally polar gamma spaces without any assumption on diameter or non-degeneracy''.
