A problem associated with optimizing the operating processes of a computer in an automated control system (ACS) is examined. This problem may be stated as a problem in multidimensional variants choice. A method and an algorithm based on finding the critical path in a special type of tier-parallel graph and on using the method of dynamic programming and Lagrangian multipliers are proposed for solving the problem. An example of solving the problem and the results from a computer experiment are presented.
