The linear analysis of a perturbed planar solid-liquid interface in a pure substance is carried out, with the non-equilibrium interface temperature given by a general monotone dependence on the local interface velocity, and zero crystalline anisotropy. On the basis of rescaling chosen via linear analysis a weakly nonlinear equation of the Kuramoto- Sivashinsky type for the interface dynamics is derived.
