Conformal vector fields in symmetric and conformal symmetric spaces (Q1114174)

The author studies locally symmetric and conformally symmetric semi- Riemannian manifolds subject to the existence of a conformal vector field. It is shown that a conformally symmetric space, with a one parameter group of conformal motions is conformally flat. Finally, the author relates his results with the framework of general relativity.
