Quantum field theory and supercomputers (Q1115081)

We discuss the computational requirements for meaningful numerical calculations in the theory of elementary particles. We consider in some detail the problem of determining the spectrum of masses in quantum chromodynamics. We illustrate current calculational techniques and approximations and present the result of a recent calculation of very large scale.
