SARLAC is a particle simulation code for studying the propagation of ultra-relativistic electron beams. Here the authors develop a fast, semi- implicit iterative field solver found quite successful in practice. The new results are compared with those obtained from a linearized hose simulation code. A brief discussion is given about electromagnetic fields of relevance to high energy electron beams propagating in resistive plasmas. Numerical issues are dealt with at length and the results are reasonable. In an appendix an algorithm for treating a crucial Maxwell's equation is developed.
