A coupled thermoelastic wave problem of an infinitely extended elastic plate of thickness d (subject initially to axially symmetric hydrostatic tension), and a flat nose cylindrical projectile of radius C travelling with velocity V striking the plate begins to punch out a hole of radius equal to its own, has been studied under certain assumptions. The integral transform technique is used. The expressions for stresses and temperature are derived. Long time and short time solutions are presented.
