The local, or Eulerian, formulation of the equations of hyperelasticity and certain relevant properties pertaining to that formulation (e.g., Signorini's remarks on the `inverse' displacement) seem to have disappeared under the more recent strata of literature. The conservative, first-order formulation has been used often in wave propagation studies. The local, conservative, first-order formulation, which the author illustrate, may be relevant for the application to high-quality numerical processes.
