An approximate (linearised) Riemann solver is presented for the solution of the Euler equations of gas dynamics for axially symmetric flows. The method is Roe's flux difference splitting with a technique for dealing with source terms and incorporates operator splitting. Results for the problem of a converging spherical shock are presented.
