The author considers the k-Pareto extension rule, by which an alternative x is preferred to another alternative y if everyone weakly prefers x to y and less than k do not prefer x to y strictly. Taking the transitive closure of the resulting relation gives a weak order and thereby defines a social welfare function. This and related social welfare functions are discussed.
