\textit{G. G. Agarwal} and \textit{S. Kumar} [Aust. J. Stat. 28, 251-255 (1986; Zbl 0591.62066)] constructed variance-balanced (VB) ternary designs of \(\nu\) treatments with a considerable reduction in number of experimental units as compared to the other existing block designs when \(\nu\)-1 is a prime. In this note, we shall show the existence of VB binary designs which make a further reduction in the number of experimental units.
