The authors investigate a method for locating sampling points for cubic splines. This method consists in: a) to obtain the relative position of the sampling points, and b) mapping the sampling points on the cubic splines interpolant based on the relative position sequence obtained in a). The direct application of the proposal is for locating objects for computer animation. The proposed method provides a good approximation for setting the position of each sampling point at its required position on the curve with a relatively small amount of calculation effort.
