Firstly, the authors establish certain estimates for convex polynomials and for functions of finite type. Secondly, they apply these inequalities to obtain estimates of the Fourier transform \({\hat \sigma}(\xi)=\int_{S}e^{i<x,\xi >}d\sigma (x),\) where \(S\subset R^{n+1}\) is a compact surface of finite type bounding a convex domain.
