The purpose of this paper is to prove in topological setting the following Theorem. Let \(M^ 2\) be a compact surface and f: \(M^ 2\to M^ 2\) be a homeomorphism. If f is expansive and has pseudo-orbit tracing property, then f is topologically conjugate to a hyperbolic toral automorphism.
