Stochastic equations of motion are derived for a test propagating through a classical fluid at thermal equilibrium in the case of weak long-range forces. The dynamics is determined by the combined effect of density fluctuations and the local perturbation of equilibrium caused by the test particle. The corresponding kinetic equation is discussed.
