    Given an immersion f: \(M\to {\mathbb{R}}^{3n}\) (where M is a closed smooth manifold of dimension 2n), the author studies the complete obstruction to deforming f into a triple point free immersion. He relates this obstruction to the degree of the map df\(\oplus df: S(TM\oplus TM)\to S^{6n-1}\) and to characteristic numbers, and deduces a few corollaries.
