It is known that there exist nonmodular topological lattices with underlying topological space homeomorphic with \(I^ 3\), where I is the closed unit interval of the real line [\textit{D. E. Edmondson}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 7, 1157-1158 (1956; Zbl 0081.263)]. The present authors prove that a modular topological lattice whose underlying space is homeomorphic with \(I^ 3\) is distributive.
