Let \(G_ 0\) be a discrete group with identity element e and let \(p_ 0\) be a probability on \(G_ 0\). The direct sum G of a countable number of copies of \(G_ 0\) and the probability p on G which is a convex combination of copies of \(p_ 0\) are considered. The author studies the asymptotic behavior of the probability \(p^{*n}(e)\).
