This paper contains old and new results in a unified approach concerning characterization of polyhedral subsemilattices and sublattices, their finite and irreducible representation, respectively, as well as some applications in the theory of linear inequalities. Especially, representations of sub-(semi-)lattices of finite products of chains are considered, where some results of Hashimoto are extended.
