    Composite laminates under axial stretching are analyzed by means of the enriched finite elements. The \(r^{\delta}\) singularity and log r singularity are included to describe the edge effects. It is concluded that, in general, they are both necessary if reliable information about the strength of those singularities is to be obtained.
