A probability model for the distribution of number of births in a time segment \((T_ 0,T_ 0+T)\), where \(T_ 0\) is a distant time point since the start of the process, has been derived. The provision that birth propensities in the process of human reproduction may change over time has been considered. The model is illustrated with a set of observed data.
