The paper presents an approach to the multiple attribute problem in which the ordinal value function may be not known but its gradient vectors are known to be in a given set. The set of optimal solutions is compared to a set of solutions obtained for specific weighting factors. Using various semi-norms an auxiliary optimization problem is formulated and its applicability to interactive methods is discussed. Conditions for terminating the procedure are presented. A set of further tasks to be carried out is given.
