Solutions defined on the real axis with values in the extended complex plane for a scalar Riccati equation with periodic coefficients (real- valued) are studied. By an index argument it is seen that the equation has at least one periodic solution and it has either two isolated periodic solutions or all solutions are periodic. Results on numerical investigations are reported.
