An open question in enumerative combinatorics is to characterize the w-vectors of posets. The author goes on to ask what more can be said about the w-vector of a poset, after a result of \textit{R. P. Stanley} [Enumerative combinatorics. Vol. 1 (1986; Zbl 0608.05001)]. In this paper the author gives new inequalities for the w-vector of a poset which satisfies a certain chain condition.
