\textit{J. F. Buoncristiani}'s notion [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 96, 24-41 (1983; Zbl 0534.60002)] of \(\epsilon\)-fuzzy set is reconsidered and some of his results are improved. The notion of \(\epsilon\)-fuzzy set is generalized in such manner that the relation of equality at the level \(\epsilon\) is fuzzified. Author discusses \(\epsilon\)-fuzzy sets in the framework of possibility theory.
