The paper describes a class of tilings of euclidean space whose tiles are related to the unit cube by projection and which show periodic and quasi- periodic ordering. Such tilings have appeared in various contexts, for example in crystallography and dynamical systems. Certain sections of the tilings provide examples of quasi-periodic tilings of euclidean space. Connections with other methods of generating quasi-periodic tilings are also discussed.
