The class of point processes on the line which are both Cox and renewal processes is characterized. Such processes are p-thinnings of other renewal processes for every \(p\in (0,1)\), i.e. for each \(p\in (0,1)\) the process can be realized by deleting each point of another renewal process independently with probability 1-p.
