Summary: In this paper we study the propagation of free vibrations in two different thermoelastic incompressible materials, which occupy a half- space and an infinite layer in welded contact. This propagation occurs in these media under the same conditions that state, for such solids, either the existence of surface waves in a half-space with a free boundary or the propagation of interfacial waves on the plane where two different half-spaces are in welded contact: in the first case, thermal waves and displacement ones travel only in the layer while the bulk material is unstrained and with a constant temperature; in the second case the propagation of the waves occurs in both media.
