Given a scheme \(X\) of finite type over a field of characteristic zero and a finite group \(G\) acting on \(X\), we prove that the motive of the quotient scheme \(X/G\) coincides with the submotive of invariants in the motive of \(X\). This is used to prove an assertion by \textit{J. Denef} and \textit{F. Loeser} [J. Algebr. Geom. 7, No. 3, 505-537 (1998)].
