The authors discuss a class of singular integral equations on the unit circle in the complex plane. The numerical method is a combination of collocation with a quadrature rule. Error bounds are obtained, and example calculations are given. The analysis is based on Fourier series. The results extend earlier work of \textit{G. A. Chandler} and \textit{I. H. Sloan} [Numer. Math. 58, No. 5, 537-567 (1990; Zbl 0694.65068)].
