A new stepsize selection strategy for the Adams multistep methods is presented. Whereas standard techniques are usually based on error estimates which assume almost constant stepsizes, the new strategy takes also big stepsize changes of previous steps into account. The effect of this stepsize control is illustrated at two simple examples.
