The starting point is a recent result of \textit{L. J. Gerstein} [J. Number Theory 11, 529--541 (1979; Zbl 0406.10017)]. Two arithmetical invariants are introduced and they are used to classify certain unimodular quadratic forms over Hasse domains. An application is a cancellation result.
