A (Young) tableau is a tabular arrangement of positive integers. A tableau is said to be standard if the row lengths are nonincreasing and there is a nondecrease along the columns. A tableau with two similar sides is called a bitableau. The authors bring series of results on standard bitableaux. They modify the correspondence given by B. Robinson, C. Schensted and D. E. Knuth (the RSK correspondence), which is based on a procedure of inserting a positive integer in a standard unitableau.
