The author proposes the following system of equations to represent the one consumer -- one resource model in ecology: \[ \dot r =h(r)-x K(r,x), \qquad \dot x =x p(r,x), \] where \(x\) represents a consumer population of individuals and \(r\) represents a consumable resource of abundance. Global asymptotic analysis has been performed and conditions under which all solutions tend toward an equilibrium point and also conditions under which all solutions tend toward a limit cycle are obtained.
