The author surveys some well known results for the Dirichlet and Neumann problems for the Laplacian, when the boundary data are in \(L^ p\) and are satisfied in the sense of non-tangential convergence. He proceeds to describe some recent results and work in progress aimed at extending these results and understanding to what extent these results carry over to the Dirichlet and Neumann problems for second order elliptic operators in divergence form.
