Smooth perturbations of the formal selfadjoint operator \(|\Delta|^{\alpha/2}\) in \(L^ 2(\mathbb{R}^ m)\), \(\Delta=\sum_{i=1}^ m \partial^ 2/\partial x_ i^ 2\), are investigated. The connections with the results of the work [\textit{M. Ben- Artzi} and \textit{S. Klainerman}, Decay and regularity for the Schrödinger equation, preprint, and \textit{B. Simon}, J. Funct. Anal. 107, No. 1, 66-71 (1992)] are discussed.
