The Hellmann model is an effective tool in the Thomas-Fermi like theories of atoms. Precise bounds on the Hellmann potential, and their behaviour as the charge, \(Z\), of the atom goes to infinity are given. Also the asymptotics at the origin and at infinity of the Hellmann potential is obtained.
