Sufficient conditions for location of the roots of the characteristic equation \(d(\lambda)=\lambda+a+\int_ 0^ r\exp(-\lambda s)dv(s)=0\) of \(\dot x (t)+ax(t)+\int_ 0^ r x(t-s)dv(s)=0\) in the open left complex semiplane are given thus generalizing results for the equation \(\dot x(t)+ax(t)+bx(t-r)=0\).
