The author obtains real solutions \(u=u(x,y)\) of the equation \((\partial^ 2u/\partial x^ 2)+(\partial^ 2u/\partial y^ 2)=ch u\) from complex solutions \(\varphi=\varphi(u,\nu)\) of the equation \((\partial^ 2\varphi/\partial\mu\partial\nu)=-4\sin\varphi\) by means of the transform \(u=\left ({\pi \over 2}-\varphi \right )i\).
