Exponential bounds are given for tail probabilities of \(U\)-statistics whose kernels satisfy certain moment restrictions. If the kernels are indicator functions only taking the values 0 and 1, then a second bound is derived. This bound is used to obtain an improved exponential bound for the tail probabilities of a binomial random variable.
