Results of Mercurjev-Suslin and Levine relating the torsion and cotorsion of the functors \(K_ 2\) and \(K_ 3\) of a field \(F\) to Galois-cohomology are used to describe the \(p\)-torsion \((p\neq\text{char}F)\) of \(K_ 2(F)\) in terms of the cyclotomic extension \(F(\mu_{p^ \infty})\) of \(F\).
