The author studies polynomials (in one real variable) that are orthogonal with respect to a modified Sobolev inner product and establishes for them some fundamental orthogonality properties. This gives the \(q\)-analogues of generalizations of the classical Laguerre polynomials that were previously investigated by the same author [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 153, No. 2, 576-590 (1990; Zbl 0737.33004)].
