The authors develop an algorithm implementable in a computer algebra system which reduces in a finite number of steps the regular singular system of difference equations to an irreducible form. The computation of the number \(\mu\), the Moser's invariant, can be done explicitly from this irreducible form. The procedure followed here is similar to the one used by \textit{J. Moser} [Math. Z. 72, 379--398 (1960; Zbl 0117.04902)].
