On Hermite-Fejér interpolation of higher order (Q1187280)

Let \(X\) be the triangular interpolatory matrix generated by the roots of Jacobi polynomials \(P^{\alpha,\beta}_ n\), \(\alpha,\beta>-1\). In this paper the author studies the problem of approximation of a continuous function by Hermite-Fejér polynomials and quasi Hermite-Fejér polynomials of higher order associated with \(X\). The author proves two theorems that extend results on Hermite-Fejér interpolation by \textit{P. Vertesi} [Acta Math. Acad. Sci. Hung. 39, 83-93 (1982; Zbl 0525.41005), ibid. 54, No. 1/2, 135-152 (1989; Zbl 0703.41004) and ibid. 56, No. 3/4, 369-379 (1990; Zbl 0743.41011)].
