Correcting some results from the paper of \textit{S. Deo} and \textit{R. Krishan} [ibid. 47, 313-319 (1986; Zbl 0616.54023)] on relations between dominated or weak topologies and closed maps, the author proved that a space \(X\) is a closed continuous image of a disjoint topological union of compact spaces (or of a locally compact paracompact space) iff \(X\) has a hereditary closure preserving cover by compact sets. Several examples are given, illustrating the situation and the errors in the above quoted paper.
