The one-parameter semigroups on \(C[0,1]\) generated by the first and second order differential operators are discussed. All domains given by the suitable boundary conditions such that the formal differential operator defined on them generates a positive semigroup are determined. These results are compared with the known ones proved for the case of contracting semigroups.
